As a child and
into my teens, I was always drawing. I even went on to study drafting/design in
my first attempt at college but some soul searching led me to decide that that
just wasn't what I wanted for a future. Within a year or so after quitting
school, I became too critical of my efforts and just gave up drawing altogether.
I've recently picked my pencils back up and I plan to document my journey back
and beyond within these pages.
My chosen medium is graphite, of
course, but I have dabbled in colored pencil, watercolor pencils, ink, and
pastels (or chalk). I've recently began adding
charcoal and carbon pencils to my graphite in order to combat the dreaded
"graphite shine" that is unavoidable while going dark with graphite alone
(anyone that tells you different is just, plain wrong). This also allows
me to achieve a true black in my drawings - another possibility that is
impractical, at best, with graphite alone.
